you have registered for is rescheduled, you will be notified no
later than five (5) business days prior to the start date, and
will be given the opportunity to register for the course or program
on a rescheduled date.
Guarantee and Retake Policy
If you are dissatisfied with any course, you may retake it at the
next available date and time free of charge. You may only retake
a given course free of charge once. The next available date for
the course will be determined by TRAC management. You may not
replace another paying student in order to retake the course sooner;
if the next scheduled offering of your chosen course is full you
may be scheduled for the following offering. If you are unable
to attend a course for which you have registered you must notify
The Recording Arts Center five (5) business days prior to the
course start date to be eligible to retake the course.
Attendance Policy
Each registered participant must attend all scheduled meetings in
order to complete a course or program. If you are unable to attend
a course for which you have registered you must notify The Recording
Arts Center five (5) business days prior to the course start date
in order to be eligible to retake the course.
Buyer's Right to Cancel
The enrollment agreement does not become operative until the student
attends the first class or session of instruction. The Recording
Arts Center will refund 100% of the amount paid for institutional
charges, less any reasonable deposit not to exceed one hundred
dollars ($100), if notice of cancellation is made prior to or
on the first day of instruction. Please note that The Recording
Arts Center has no registration or application fee.
It will be the policy of The Recording Arts Center to provide a 60% pro rata refund to students who withdraw or otherwise fail to complete a program of instruction. This means that, assuming a student has prepaid for the instruction, a percentage of all paid tuition will be refunded if the student has completed less than 60% of a program. Refunds are given less a $25 processing fee for each class. In addition, for credit card refunds, a 4% merchant fee will apply. After the student completes 60% of a program, there will be no refund.
This method of calculating a refund will be followed as required by the State of California:
- Deduct a registration fee not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) from the total tuition charge and any STRF fee.
- Divide this figure by the number of hours in the program.
- The quotient is the hourly charge for the program.
- The amount owed by the student for the purposes of calculating a refund is derived by multiplying the total hours attended by the hourly charge for instruction plus the amount of the registration fee specified in line (1).
- The refund shall be any amount in excess of the figure derived in line (4) that was paid by the student.
Here is a sample calculation of a refund for a student in a Pro Tools 310M 30 hour program who decides to withdraw after 10 hours of instruction. The student has paid the entire cost of the program ($1,395).
- The tuition for the program is $1,395. There is no application or registration fee. There is no STRF fee.
- There are 30 hours in the program. The total tuition charge for the program, $1,395, is divided by 30 hours, the length of the program, thereby resulting in an hourly charge of $46.50.
- The quotient or hourly charge is $46.50.
- The student has completed ten hours of instruction. This is the equivalent of (10 X $46.50) which equals $465. The student has received $465 worth of instruction.
- The refund to the student will be ($1,395 - $465) or $930. The student would be entitled to a pro rata refund up to completion of approximately 18 hours of instruction (the 60% point).
A student has the right to cancel this Agreement for a course of instruction including any equipment such as books, materials and supplies or any other goods related to the instruction offered in this Agreement, until midnight of the first day after the first class the student has attended.
Cancellation shall occur when the student gives written notice of cancellation to:
The Recording Arts Center
11021 Via Frontera, Suite A
San Diego, CA 92127
You can do this by mail, hand delivery or telegram. The written notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is effective when deposited in the mail properly addressed with postage prepaid.
All refunds will be processed and should be received by the student within thirty days and in the vast majority of cases within ten days of receipt of cancellation.
Withdrawal from Course
A student has the right to withdraw from a course of instruction
at any time. The institutional refund policy for students who
have completed 60% or less of the course of instruction shall
be a pro rata refund. If a student withdraws from the course of
instruction after the period allowed for cancellation of the Agreement,
which is until midnight of the first business day following the
first class (s)he attended, the school will remit a refund less
a registration fee, if applicable, not to exceed $100.00 within
30 (thirty) days following the withdrawal. The student is obligated
to pay only for educational services rendered and for unreturned
equipment. The refund shall be the amount paid for instruction
multiplied by a fraction, the numerator of which is the number
of hours of instruction the student has not received but for which
have been paid, and the denominator of which is the total number
of hours of instruction for which the student has paid.
IF THE AMOUNT THE STUDENT HAS PAID IS MORE THAN THE AMOUNT OWED FOR THE TIME ATTENDED, THEN A REFUND WILL BE MADE WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF WITHDRAWAL. IF THE AMOUNT THE STUDENT OWES IS MORE THAN THE AMOUNT ALREADY PAID, THEN THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY.
Students whose entire tuition and fees are paid by a third party organization are not eligible for a refund.
Schedule of Payments
Payment for all courses must be received by The Recording Arts Center
no later than the start date of the course. The Recording Arts
Center accepts payment via cash, check or credit card (Visa or
MasterCard).
